Vacuum forming at Yongshuo

From Formed Sheet to Finished Plastic Parts

Yongshuo’s plastic vacuum forming services help turn thermoplastic sheets into functional 3D parts using cost-effective, single-sided tooling. From initial forming to final trimming, we help you move efficiently from design to parts that are ready for assembly or further finishing.

After forming, each part remains connected to the surrounding sheet until it is trimmed to its final profile. Punch-and-die cutting is ideal for thin packaging parts, while CNC routing provides greater control over the edges, holes, and mating features of larger or thicker components.

Send us your CAD files and project requirements. Our team will review your design, material, tooling, and trimming needs, then provide a tailored quote for your vacuum forming project.

Vacuum Forming Design and DFM Support

Upload CAD and a drawing for DFM review before tooling. We review pull direction, draft, draw depth, wall thinning, radii, vents, visible surfaces, trim lines, and inspection datums.

/01
Define pull direction and draft

Mark the tool side and add draft so Yongshuo can review release, texture, and deep features before tooling.

/02
Set draw depth and minimum wall

Provide the starting sheet thickness and minimum finished wall in deep areas so material stretch can be reviewed before quoting.

/03
Add radii and feature spacing

Use radii and spacing that let the sheet flow without thin corners or webbing. Flag tight areas for review.

/04
Mark vents and visible surfaces

Identify cosmetic surfaces and acceptable vent marks so vacuum paths can be planned away from critical areas.

/05
Share part size and order quantity

Send the overall dimensions and order quantity so Yongshuo can plan the mold layout, sheet use, and production route.

/06
Define trim lines and datums

Mark final edges, holes, mating faces, and inspection datums so forming and trimming follow the same drawing.

Vacuum forming FAQs

Practical answers to compare vacuum forming services, prepare an RFQ, and review tooling, materials, wall thinning, and finished-part requirements.

For standard thin sheet, the full lead time includes mold manufacturing. It is 3 working days with a sample tool, 7 with a copper tool, and 8 with an aluminum tool. Mold manufacturing takes 3, 4, and 5 working days in the same order. Thick-sheet or special projects take about 15 working days, including the mold.

Price depends on part size, draw depth, material, thickness, color, tool type, trim work, finish, quantity, and lead time. Sample approval can confirm the finished scope before production pricing is set.

Punch and die cutting suits thin packaging and formed sheets. CNC routing gives more control on larger or thicker parts, holes, and mating features.

Yongshuo can process plastic sheets up to 78.7 × 117 inches. Supported sheet thickness ranges from 1/16 to 1/2 inch, or about 1.6 to 12.7 mm.

No. The sheet gets thinner as it stretches over deep walls and tight corners. Put both the starting thickness and the minimum finished wall on the drawing.

Thermoforming is the broad family of processes that heat and shape thermoplastic sheet. Vacuum forming is one thermoforming method; it uses vacuum to draw the heated sheet against a one-sided tool. Vacuum molding is a common name for vacuum forming.

Choose a vacuum forming company like Yongshuo that reviews geometry, material, tooling, wall thinning, trim datums, appearance, inspection, and downstream assembly before quoting. The right partner should provide a clear finished-part scope and a DFM review tied to your drawing.

Use the Yongshuo quotation channel for project files and identify any NDA, access, export-control, or retention requirement before sharing restricted data. Every production release should reference the approved drawing and CAD revision so quotations, inspection records, and repeat orders remain aligned with the correct design.
